Rain is nothing to the City that never sleeps. The Times Square – the ceaselessly beating heart of New York City – is filled with people and cars, and even bicyclers and horse-drawn carriages. The watercolors perfectly reflect the rain-splattered billboards of New York City’s iconic Broadway musicals: The Beauty and the Beast, Chicago, Les Miserables, The Phantom of the Opera, Rent, and Tommy.
Roustam Nour lives and works in New York City — the place that inspires his lively and lifelike watercolor and oil paintings. Born in Russia, he immigrated to the US in 1991. Since then, his name has become synonymous with his home city, with write ups in the New York Times and the German magazine Stern celebrating his achievements in capturing NYC on the canvas.
Nour graduated from the College of Art in Tatarstan and mastered his professional skills at Moscow State University’s Technical Design department. His work has appeared in multiple national and international exhibitions including Art Expo New York.
