The New York skyline depicted in sepia watercolors. The sky, although dark in tones and mood, has some lightness to it from the rays of sunshine puncturing the fluffy clouds. The Twin Towers, Empire State Building, Woolworth Building, Chrysler Building, and Statue of Liberty all feature in this scene, along with Ellis Island not far off to the side. A lone boat swims across the water.
Roustam Nour lives and works in New York City — the place that inspires his lively and lifelike watercolor and oil paintings. Born in Russia, he immigrated to the US in 1991. Since then, his name has become synonymous with his home city, with write ups in the New York Times and the German magazine Stern celebrating his achievements in capturing NYC on the canvas.
Nour graduated from the College of Art in Tatarstan and mastered his professional skills at Moscow State University’s Technical Design department. His work has appeared in multiple national and international exhibitions including Art Expo New York.
